Sin is sin.
That's the bare naked truth. No matter how big or small, it all counts the same in the heavenlies. If you lied to your mom, it's the same as murder. Gossiping is the same as cheating on your wife. [Funny that by sinning, we are not only cheating ourselves out of intimate relationship with God, but we are CHEATING on HIM with something completely unworthy of Him...] This is stated so clearly in the Bible. Jesus never says one sin is greater or lesser than another. So why are we still falling into the little stuff, claiming that it doesn't matter because it was "just a small mistake"?
SIN IS SIN. All of it is the same, disgusting in the eyes of the Father. How many times are we going to slip and fall, reaching out for His hand? He is a God of second, third, millionth chances. But that doesn't mean we have to take them all. He has proved Himself worthy countless times [HELLO, THE CROSS!], yet we still refuse to give it all up.
Father God, I ask that you would give us a revelation of sin, Lord. I pray that you will show us just how GROSS our sin is, that you would put a desire in our hearts to turn from sin. Give us a hate for our sins, Jesus. I thank you that you are truly a God of chances. But I pray we will finally face ourselves in the mirror, and want to be clean. For good. Jesus, give us the strength. Father, give us the courage. You are the Creator and Master of all things, change our hearts. You are worthy of all we have to give. Amen.

YES! Fear the Lord and hate sin! That's so cool, how you got this revelation on icky sin. It's crazy how we can often compromise in our minds saying "well, that wasn't TOO big of a sin" and feel like we are O.K. When in reality, sin is sin is sin and it all takes us away from our Father.
God, continue to purify us and I ask for a hatred towards sin. Take it all out of us, as we learn to love You even more.

yeah sin is sin-it's all placing ourselves before Him, all sin is selfishness, pride, love of self, making ourselves wealthy with whatever we feel completes us.
however, different sins have different consequences, if i murder somebody, i'll probably get the Chair, or life in prison, but if i murder the pet bunny, i'll get a lesser sentence, or if i just lie to my mom-i'll get spanked.
i'm still wondering how that translates eternally-but all said-sin is sin, and we've got the grace to leave all that crap behind!
