reveal yourself

Faith without works is DEAD. Revelation comes with both KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE.We can believe everything all we want, we can read and memorize every page of the Bible, but without REVELATION, without DOING SOMETHING, it's nothing but knowledge. And we can't have just the knowledge without the experience, just like we can't have the experience without the knowledge. They come hand in hand. One is useless without the other.

Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.
-1 Corinthians 8:1 (NASB)

Simply knowledge does nothing but puff us up. It can easily make us prideful, thinking we are better than everyone else. We can listen to sermons about helping the poor, and sit and nod our heads, but without going out and HELPING the poor, we have nothing but empty words floating around in our head. That's not real revelation!

For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.
-Romans 10:2 (NASB)

By just having the experience, we don't have the flip side of the coin. We have emotionalism, a good time, but with no real value. We can go out and heal the sick every day of our lives, but without knowing the Father's heart about the sick, without knowing what God says about healing, we have nothing but good stories. That's not real revelation!

Revelation is a delicate balance between the two, and once we are caught up between them, our spiritual eyes are opened to the things of God. The mystery is revealed to us. And when we truly embrace it, when we apply it and make it a part of our everyday life, that's where real growth comes from.

Oh, God, teach us about revelation. Let us treasure the things you show us. Let us yearn to know you in both knowledge and experience. Discipline us, Father, to not just throw it away and move on to the next thing. Help us to treasure it deep inside our hearts. Give us a sensitivity to your heart, Jesus. Show us the things of Heaven, teach us your true ways. Father God, you are so awesome and holy. You have so much for us. Open our eyes so that we might see the things you long to show us.

this is so freakin awesome! dang-i'm just gonna skip church and read ya'lls blogs from now on!! haha

man this is so well said, a great teaching! i spoke a little about this in the bible study, and other places i've been, but i dont think i ever put those two scriptures together and said it this well!! the Lord is really gripping you, using others to teach you, and His Holy Spirit to teach and guide you, and His Word to teach you. take it slow, let it take root in you-you have so much potential, so much power, let this take deeeeeep root in you, in YOU, and when you live this, your words will change NATIONS.

God, send revelation, yes i agree Lord, send revelation to sarah, we both know you have so much to show all of us, but i'm asking for her Lord, show her what hasn't been seen before, grip her with revelation, experiences rooted in knowledge, knowledge confirmed through experience, and let her words be borne out of a place of living, breathing, walking righteousness of God.
