Romans 7:6

"But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit."

(Romans is awesome. I highly suggest it, along with the rest of the Bible.) Note: We have died to what we were held by. Dead. Gone. Muerto. Six feet under with no hope of resurrection, not that we would want one. When someone or something dies, it doesn't come back . The arms that used to hold it, the things that it used to do, they end indefinitely. The things, the sin, that once held and bound us so tightly has no control over us because we are dead to it. It doesn't even recognize our existence anymore. And we have not died to it for folly. We have died to serve in newness, in resurrection unto God. We have already been delivered. We are already free, whole, and strong. In Christ. We must never make the mistake that it is us who has done this, but humbly embrace the truth of Jesus Christ, the one who has taken the shackles off our feet so we can dance.

Father, may you renew in us the passion that is found through true deliverance. Would you open our eyes to realize that you have taken us out of our flesh and into your Spirit, and that all it takes to walk from that place is one decision. The decision to follow you intensely and purely. You alone are worthy, God. I thank you that you have been so merciful and forgiving to us, though we are so unfaithful. And we need more of you, Lord, because left to our own devices we will destroy ourselves. We need your guidance and your grace to cover us and our mistakes. Father, make us humble servants with willing hearts. Keep us teachable and faithful and focused so intently upon you. May you be manifested and glorified upon this earth, not ourselves. Make it our heart's cry, God. Amen.

Man, how often if this verse viewed as a call of action? Not only have we been delivered, we are under the authority of something new! We are called to serve - to love - to be who we are called to be.

That is so great, and something we really need to remember daily.

Amen and amen.
And another amen for good measure.

You know, in case the first two didn't make it clear.
