He lifted me high

"The objection to conforming to usages that have become dead to you is, that it scatters your force. It loses your time and blurs the impression of your character. If you maintain a dead church, contribute to a dead Bible-society, vote with a great party either for the government or against it, spread your table like base housekeepers, — under all these screens I have difficulty to detect the precise man you are. And, of course, so much force is withdrawn from your proper life. But do your work, and I shall know you. Do your work, and you shall reinforce yourself."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-reliance

Hahahah, that is awesome. I really want to read the whole thing, I'll make a point of it sometime very soon. I really like the idea of a "dead Bible-society" being commonplace in this world. I mean, I don't LIKE the idea, but I think it is very true to form. I think it's really cool that you have a thirst for some of the heavier stuff in life!

In regards to the song I posted, hahah, thanks! I knew there was no way I could explain it in the car. In fact, like I said, I'm not even sure if I actually LIKE the song. But the song certainly resonates somewhere inside of me, and I think it was something I needed to hear.
