Okay so here's the thing. Not many of us actually love God. His word says that "those who obey my commandments are the ones who love me." (John 14:21) And what exactly are his commandments? Jesus says "love your enemies, do good for those who hate you. Pray for the happiness of those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you." (Luke 6:27-28) He tells the Pharisees that the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind." (Matthew 22:37) Then he says the second greatest commandment is to "love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:39) We all know the ten commandments: you shall have no other Gods before me, you shall not make idols for yourself, you shall not use the Lord's name in vain, keep the Sabbath holy, honor your father and mother, you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not lie, and you shall not covet. (Exodus 20) So basically, there's only one way to love God- with all your heart, soul, and mind. And the only way to love him is to obey him. So how many of us are actually doing that? How many of us are claiming to love God, but not following his commandments? We're all hypocrites. We can all "love God" on Sunday, but can't listen to our parents by Tuesday afternoon. What kind of love is that? When are we all going to listen to his word, and follow wholeheartedly? When are we truly going to LOVE the Father?
Jesus it is my prayer that you would discipline us to hear your voice, and then to listen to what you say. That we would want to love you so much that we would give up everything to follow your commands. Teach us how to love, Lord, make us your people. You are good, and you deserve the glory.

Wonderful post.
I pray that we will become real followers after God, not spoiled little whiners who compromise and trip at every turn.
God's word is so clear and His heart is so open, yet we seem to be so willing to disobey. :|
God, help us. We need Your heart for all things. Teach us Your ways. Give us hearts of no compromise. Let us understand that it is YOUR standard that we are to measure against, not the worlds.
