When we arrived in Guatemala, a man from the airport helped us bring our luggage to the truck. As we were walking to it, the man turned to me and asked "How do you see your world?" Honestly, it caught me off guard. I thought it was a pretty deep question to be asking me so quickly! I must have looked confused because he repeated his question and gestured, saying "Do you see it hot?" I figured out he meant the weather and answered him, but that question stuck with me. In his broken English, this man had really got me thinking.
Today, walking down from San Diego where we went to pray, I was surveying the landscape when his question popped into my head again. "How do you see your world?" As I gazed out upon an infinite horizon of mountains and sky; God felt incredibly huge. The tranquility here is indescribable, and as we walked all I could hear were the birds singing and our shoes on the gravel. There is a beauty in everything that cannot be captured by words or cameras, one that can only be chalked up to what must be a glimpse of the glory of God.
May I see my world through quiet contemplation, deep wells of hope, and humbled amazement. But most of all, may I see it through the eyes of a Creator who loves so extravagantly and beautifully I can't help but catch my breath at a glimpse of Him.

That's really amazing.

That was the most shocking part of my trip to Guatemala last year - to really get outside of myself and realize that the way I see the world is not necessarily how the world actually is. So much taken for granted if not entirely forgotten, while we are in our own smaller worlds and missing out on the big picture.

Let's always strive to see the world through not only our eyes, but through His as well.

Excited to be there!

Drew: I was thinking a lot today about how small my world is, how small my conceptions are, etc. Everything is so much different here than in the States, and in my own selfish life. It has really set me up to take a good hard look at myself, but it is good.

Alicia: I can't wait for you to get here! I think about it often. You are wonderful and I love you.

I'm excited to see what the Lord is going to do with the month there.

The blog updates are awesome.

God is God and HIS mercy and love endure forever.

Keep your eyes locked on His.

Much love!
