First of all, the Bible says in Romans 8:5-6 "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Very cool. Our thoughts control our lives.
Secondly, it is said that our heart is made up of our mind, will, and emotions. Not sure where that came from, but it's pretty common knowledge. I think. But there are a lot of Scriptures that reference both in the same verse... check out Psalm 26:2, Jeremiah 11:20, and Luke 10:27.
And lastly, Matthew 12:34 "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Whatever is truly in our heart will show up through our words and actions in day to day life.
So whether your problem is crucifying thoughts that aren't of Christ, or the fact that you say a bunch of stupid stuff (we all have both these problems), it can be traced back to the other. Get your thoughts under control. Get your heart right and clean. Get your mouth back in it's proper place, aligned with the Word of God. Then when you're properly centered and balanced, only good can come your way!
I leave you with this:
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer."
-Psalm 19:14
